Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

At Long Flat Public School, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that for students to learn, grow, and thrive, they need more than just academic support—they need a safe, caring and engaging school environment where their emotional, social and personal needs are met.

We do this through:

Wellbeing at Long Flat Public School

Clear school-wide behaviour expectations

We maintain consistent expectations across the school community so that students know what is expected of them, what is acceptable behaviour, and how to treat others with respect. This shared framework helps every child feel safe, valued, and able to focus on learning.

Team Time

Each week students spend time at lunch with a trusted staff member. This gives them space to connect, talk through challenges, share successes, and build strong positive relationships with adults in the school.

Interest-based lunchtime group activities

Students have access to a range of lunchtime activities based on their interests. These groups provide fun, inclusive, social experiences that help build friendships, confidence, and wellbeing beyond the classroom.
